On Wednesday, 30 November 2011, the Asia Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies launched its first Health in Transition (HiT) publication – Volume 1 No. 1 2011: The Fiji Islands Health Systems Review in Suva. The launch was attended by the Acting Permanent Secretary for Health of Fiji and around 50 stakeholder of the health sector, among them many health professionals, Ministry of Health staff, researchers, international health partners and the Fiji press and TV. In his response to the findings of the HiT, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Health acknowledged the hard work of the whole HiT team and emphasized that the Ministry is keen to use the HiT to strengthen policy making based on evidence.
The event was hosted by the WHO Division of Pacific Technical Support, DPS based in Suva.
