Funding the Western Pacific Region

STB's annual running budget is about US$2.5 - 3 million for both activities and staff. This has been drastically reduced over the years, however, due to changing donor priorities and the recent financial crisis. The graph below shows funding trends among our most prominent donors (bilateral donations) and does not include the additional, one-off funding we sometimes receive from other WHO offices and partners. As the projected 2012 figures suggest, the trend is continuing downwards. This shift is extremely unfortunate as it is having a negative impact on STB's ability to function and implement the Regional Strategy.
