Travel and transportation
The Republic of Korea is connected by air to every major capital in the world, either through direct flights or by connecting flights from major international airports in East Asia. Nearly 40 international airlines maintain regular flight services, with over 12 500 flights into and out of the Republic of Korea every week. The Republic of Korea has eight international airports: Incheon and Gimpo for Seoul; Gimhae for Busan; Jeju; Cheongju; Daegu; Yangyang; and Gwangju. Gimhae operates direct flights to and from Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka in Japan, as well as Beijing. Jeju operates direct flights to and from Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka in Japan, and Beijing and Shanghai in China.

There are four ways to fly to Jeju Island: (1) direct international flight; (2) transfer through major hub airports where direct flights to Jeju are available; (3) transfer from Incheon International Airport which is the gateway to the Republic of Korea; and (4) transfer by bus to Gimpo Airport and then to Jeju.

From Incheon International Airport, there are a few flights to Jeju by Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, with a flight time of approximately one hour. For flight schedules, please check the airline websites.
There are 50 to 70 flights everyday from Gimpo Airport to Jeju by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air and Hansung Airlines, and the flight time is approximately 50 minutes. For flight schedule, please check the airline websites.
Travel from Incheon to Gimpo Airport takes about 30 minutes. Airport limousine buses run every 5 to 10 minutes. The fare is 2800 to 6000 Korean Won (KRW) depending on the type of bus. Airport train is in operation since 23 March 2007. It runs every 12 minutes and the fare is KRW 3100.
The host will assist all representatives on their arrival in Jeju International Airport and transport will be provided. If representatives are unable to give advance notice to WHO of their expected arrival time and are therefore not met at the airport, taxis are available outside the terminal. The fare system is based on both distance and time. Estimated fare from the airport to the official hotels cost about KRW 30 000.
For easy identification upon arrival at the airport, representatives are requested to wear the lapel labels provided along with this booklet. Luggage tags also have been provided.
Transport from the designated hotels to the airport will
be provided for representatives scheduled to depart not later than Sunday, 16 September. Representatives extending their stay should make their own transport arrangements to the airport. The departure time from the designated hotels to the airport will be posted at the WHO desk located at the lobby of each hotel.
Upon reconfirmation of flights, travellers will be given an Embarkation Card (for international travel only). The completed Embarkation Card will be submitted upon clearing the Immigration Desk.
