13. Language
French is the official and most-spoken language in New Caledonia. The local Melanesians also have their own dialects. English is widely used in Noumea and Japanese is frequently spoken in hotels.
14. Local time
New Caledonia is 11 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+11) and does not use Daylight Saving Time.

Offices: 07:30 to 11:30 and 13:30 to 18:00

Noumea city centre shops are open from 08:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. On Sundays, most cafes, restaurants and shops are closed. However, those on Anse Vata Bay are usually open.
