11. Climate and clothing

New Caledonia enjoys a relatively temperate climate that can be described as "tropical oceanic". The climate is very pleasant, especially during the "transitional" periods, April-May and October-November, when rainfall is less significant than during the warm season.

In September, rain falls for an average of 12 days – from four days in the driest areas to around 20 days in the regions with the highest rainfall – and the total monthly rainfall averages 60 mm. The average temperature is 20ºC, with a daytime variation between 16ºC and 25ºC.

For official functions, it is suggested that representatives should wear business suits or national costumes.
