Tipping is not a general custom within Macao. A service charge is normally added in most restaurant bills. Tips for exceptional service, however, are appreciated.
Macao is generally a safe city; however, as in all big cities, the carrying of large amounts of cash is not recommended. Traveller’s cheques or credit cards are preferred. The hotel’s safe-deposit boxes should be used for valuables and travel documents.
19. Shopping and restaurants
Wine, tobacco and antique items are three of the biggest attractions for visitors shopping in Macao. There are variety of antique shops and specialty stores.
Shops are open at the following times:
Weekdays: 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Weekends: 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
20. Other programmes
Representatives may wish to have a sightseeing tour of Zhuhai, Guandong Province, China which is about 20 minutes from Macao. A visa can be issued at the border at a cost of US$ 12 per person per trip. However, for those intending to go sightseeing in China, we recommend that representatives and spouses obtain the necessary visas from their respective countries.
