The Regional Committee,

         Having considered the Report,* of the Sub-Committee of the Regional Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation, Part II, on renewing the strategy for health for all;

1. ENDORSES the report of the Sub-Committee;
2. URGES Member States:

   (1) to participate actively in the third evaluation of the implementation of the strategy for health for all in 1997;

   (2) to work closely with other Member States and WHO in the renewal of the strategy for health for all that will direct health policies into the 21^st century;

3. REQUESTS the Regional Director:

   (1) to ensure that the third evaluation of the implementation of the strategy for health for all is effectively accomplished and related to the renewal of the strategy for health for all;

   (2) to provide technical support to Member States as required;

   (3) to report to the Regional Committee at its forty-eighth session on the renewal of the health-for-all strategy for the 21^st century.
