         Noting the views expressed by the Sub-Committee and by the representatives during the current session which indicate that the information provided by Member States on their monitoring process gave a clear picture of their health status and progress in continuing to review and implement sound health development programmes;

  1. URGES Member States:
    (1) to keep up their efforts to implement national strategies for health for all, exercising the strong leadership role of health authorities which has characterized the health development programmes in so many of the countries and areas of the Region;
    (2) to continue to improve the timeliness and quality of both monitoring and evaluation as part of the overall management of the health system in the light of the rapid and complex changes that are now a part of most health systems in the Region;
    (3) to use the information obtained from monitoring to review and update their health-for-all strategies;
    (4) to promote technical exchanges between countries using the information from the monitoring exercise;
  2. REQUESTS the Regional Director:
    (1) to support Member States in their efforts to refine, implement, monitor and evaluate health-for-all strategies in a timely manner;
