Drug Supply Management in the South Pacific
The Regional Committee,
Having considered the report of the Regional Director on drug supply management in the South Pacific;*
Recalling resolution WPR/RC37.R3;
Recognizing the importance of WHO's intercountry programme of cooperation in drug supply management as a catalyst in collaborative activities in the South Pacific;
- ENDORSES the recommendations contained in the Regional Director's report;
- URGES Member States of the South Pacific:
- (1) to implement the recommendations contained in the Regional Director's report;
- (2) to collaborate with other Member States in drug supply management;
- REQUESTS the Regional Director:
- (1) to continue to support Member States, through the intercountry programme in the South Pacific, in strengthening their programmes for drug procurement, supply management and information exchange;
- (2) to strengthen collaborative activities in order to develop national capability in monitoring drug quality in the South Pacific, which will include support for the training of personnel;
- (3) to study alternative financial arrangements, which could be beneficial to South Pacific countries, for facilitating the procurement of essential drugs;
- (4) to report on the outcome of the study to the Regional Committee.
