Report of the Sub-Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation: Managerial Process for National Health Development, including Health Manpower Development Aspects
The Regional Committee,
Having considered Part I of the report of the Sub-Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation on its visits to Malaysia and Papua New Guinea;*
- ENDORSES the findings and recommendations of the Sub-Committee on Programmes and Technical Cooperation in relation to WHO's cooperation in the managerial process for national health development, including health manpower development aspects;
- THANKS the Sub-Committee for its work;
- REQUESTS the Regional Director to take the Sub-Committee's findings and recommendations into consideration in developing future programmes of cooperation, particularly with respect to:
- (1) the strengthening of formal training programmes;
- (2) continuing education programmes for health workers;
- (3) the upgrading of planning and management skills of key staff at the intermediate level; and
- (4) the promotion of technical cooperation among countries, particularly in formulating solutions to training problems and primary health care development issues;
- REQUESTS the Sub-Committee, as part of its terms of reference in 1987, to review and analyse the impact of WHO's cooperation with Member States in the field of tuberculosis and malaria control.
