Regional Strategy for Health for All by the Year 2000: Common Framework and Format for Monitoring Progress in Implementation of the Strategy

         The Regional Committee,

         Recalling resolution WPR/RC32.R5 by which it accepted the plan of action for monitoring and evaluating implementation of the Regional Strategy for Health for All by the Year 2000;

         Noting resolution WHA35.23 by which the World Health Assembly approved the plan of action for implementing the Global Strategy for Health for All by the Year 2000, of which the above-mentioned regional plan of action forms an integral part;

         Recalling also that the plan of action calls for monitoring by the Regional Committee, the Executive Board and the World Health Assembly of progress in implementing the Strategies, and reports every two years to the Regional Committee) commencing in 1983. and to the Executive Board and the World Health Assembly, commencing in 1984;

         Having considered Part IV of the Report of the Sub-Committee on the General Programme of Work;*

  1. ACCEPTS the proposed common framework and format for monitoring progress in implementing the Strategies;
  2. DECIDES that the seven indicators contained in the Regional Strategy in addition to those contained in the Global Strategy, together with the elements to be considered in providing the information related to them, should be included in the framework;
  3. REQUESTS Member States to use Section I of the common framework and format as the basis for continually monitoring the implementation of their national strategies and for preparing the progress report to the Regional Director due in March 1983;
  4. REQUESTS the Regional Director to use Section II of the common framework to prepare his report to the thirty-fourth session of the Regional Committee.
