The Regional Committee,

         Having considered the report of the Sub-Committee on the General Programme of Work, *

1. DECIDES that the Sub-Committee on the General Programme of Work should become a standing subcommittee of the Regional Committee;
2. AGREES with the recommendations contained in the report, including the activities to be undertaken by the Sub-Committee in the coming year;
3. AGREES with the proposal to enlarge the Sub-Committee to six members and with the proposal that four members remain annually and two rotate;
4. DECIDES that the Chief Representatives of Australia, Fiji, Malaysia and the Philippines will remain members of the Sub-Committee for the coming year and that the Chief Representatives of Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam be the additional members for the coming year; membership to be reconsidered by the Regional Committee at its twenty-ninth session;
5. COMMENDS the Sub-Committee for its report;
6. REQUESTS the Regional Director to make all necessary arrangements, including the provision of budgetary support, to enable the Sub-Committee to carry out its activities.
