The Regional Committee,
Having reviewed the purpose and procedures of the Technical Discussions of the Regional Committee;
Recalling resolution WPR/RC3.R14 * which resolved that Technical Discussions should be a part of the agenda in future sessions of the Regional Committee;
Believing that the Technical Discussions can in future be further oriented towards the particular interest of the Member countries of the Region,
- DECIDES that the Technical Discussions will henceforth be supplanted by Technical Presentations which will have the following features:
- (a) the topic for the presentation will deal with a special subject, or a health problem and/or approaches to a health problem, and will be selected by the Regional Committee one year in advance;
- (b) the topic will be presented by one or two recognized experts who preferably should be familiar with the situation existing in the Western Pacific Region;
- (c) a Technical Presentation will be scheduled during each session of the Regional Committee;
- REQUESTS the Regional Director:
- (a) to select the experts in consultation with the Chairman of the Regional Committee;
- (b) to make the necessary budgetary provision, if required;
- (c) to arrange the first Technical Presentation at the twenty-sixth session of the Regional Committee in 1975.
