The Regional Committee,

         Having considered resolution WHA27.43 adopted by the Twenty-seventh World Health Assembly,

         Recognizing that the implementation of the resolution depends to a large extent on the efforts of countries to encourage breast feeding and to develop weaning foods based on local products,

1. INVITES governments to intensify their efforts to promote education and other measures in support of breast feeding of infants and the wider use of locally based weaning foods;
2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to extend technical and other means of assistance available to the Organization in support of the efforts of governments to these ends.
