The Regional Committee,

         Having reviewed the report presented by the Regional Director on medical education in the Western Pacific Region, **

1. NOTES that the proposal to establish a WHO medical school in the Region did not obtain support and that there was a measure of reluctance to meet the financial commitments involved in its establishment and maintenance;
2. RECOMMENDS that WHO continues to assist in the strengthening of national medical schools within the Region.
