Proposed Programme and Budget Estimates for 1963

         The Regional Committee,

  1. Having examined the programme and budget estimates proposed for the Western Pacific Region in 1963 * and the report of the Sub-Committee on Programme and Budget, **
    1. CONSIDERS that the programme has been well-conceived and that a satisfactory balance has been maintained among subject headings;
    2. ENDORSES the proposed programmes under the regular budget and that proposed to be financed from the Malaria Eradication Special Account;
    3. NOTES the programme proposed to be financed under the Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance;
    4. AGREES that the following inter-country projects are important for this region and should be undertaken during 1963-1964;
    Seminar on health surveys and reporting
    Seminar on composting of organic waste
    Conference of deans of medical schools;
    5. RECOMMENDS that Member governments wishing to participate in any of the above projects should include them in their submissions in connection with the 1963-1964 country requests to the Technical Assistance Board;
  2. Having studied the supplementary list of projects, which were requested by governments, including those brought forward during the meeting, which could not be accommodated within the regional allocations for 1962 and 1963,
    1. BELIEVES that these projects should be considered part of the regional programme; and
    2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to implement as many of the projects in the supplementary list as possible, as and when funds are available;
  3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to transmit the proposals "to the Director-General for his consideration for inclusion in his proposed budget for 1963.
