The Regional Committee,

         Noting resolution EB17.R71 of the Executive Board, **

         Recognizing the importance that mental health problems are acquiring in many countries of the world,

1. RECOMMENDS that Member States include both short-and long-term planning in mental health in their annual programmes and budgets; and
2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to provide such assistance as may be requested by Member States in planning and carrying out such programmes.
